There’s a reason it’s called progress and not perfection!!

It does appear though that we are making progress with NMUSD on both applying for the Elementary School waiver and getting our children back into their classrooms. The district has just released their agenda for this Thursday’s special meeting of the Board of Education.

The specific items of interest in the meeting’s agenda are to authorize the district superintendent to pursue the Elementary School waiver and most importantly to approve start dates for NMUSD schools. If approved, Andersen would potentially see our K-2nd children return to the classroom on September 29th and our 3rd-6th children on October 1st.

It is again very important and time sensitive for families to make their opinions known prior to the Board of Education Trustees meeting by submitting public comments. Your comment card must be received no later than 9am on September 10th. Please use the following link to submit any feedback you feel is appropriate. The agenda sections that you are interested in commenting on are either section 7a: Approve Start Dates and Instructional Models for Reopening of Elementary and Secondary Schools in Level 2 ,or 7b: Approve Direction to Superintendent to Pursue TK-6 Elementary Waiver for Reopening.

We sincerely hope that this information continues to be helpful in allowing you to have a say in your children’s school district policy. It truly does take a village and the DEANs Board is here to support Andersen in any way we can. Please also send this to friends and families in other communities around NMUSD.

Yours Truly,
