I think we can all breathe of collective sigh of relief now that we have started to send our kids back to Andersen’s campus, at least for a part of the day. As we continue along in our journey back to life as we once knew it, we wanted to send a few well-deserved thank you’s and provide you all with a quick update on recent DEANS contributions and upcoming events.

First of all, thank you to you all in the Andersen Community who have persevered throughout this challenging period. Your efforts to get your thoughts and concerns in front of NMUSD Board members went a long way in getting our schools to reopen, so we appreciate your help in this cause.

By now, you likely have noticed the welcome back sign posted at the front of the school which was graciously donated by Lorie Swatsek of Custom Yard Greetings. Thank you to Lorie for helping to make the first day back to school feel special for our Andersen kids.

You may also have noticed that the DEANS placed “Andersen Dolphin Pride” yard signs in everyone’s front yard. Please click HERE to see a picture of one at the Port Streets entry. Thank you to our own DEANS VP, Mike Dye, for coordinating the procurement and distribution of those signs along with some 2nd graders and their parents. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Natalie Tateossian of Snap Express Printing for providing the signs to us at cost. If you by chance did not receive a yard sign, please contact me at [email protected] to make arrangements for pick up.

Now for a few quick updates…the RTI teachers have all been hired and placed in our classrooms. Principal Lewis put together the facebook linked HERE which includes bios for the 7 DEANS-funded RTI teachers along with some background from Mrs. Lewis on how they will be utilized in the Hybrid schedule. In addition, DEANS in conjunction with PTA have both chipped in to order HEPA filters to help ensure the safety of our students and teachers as they return to the classroom. We are also in the process of organizing an “opt-in” physical education program with Core Athletics to help supplement the school day and help our kids get some of their wiggles out before coming home from or going to school. More details to come in the weeks ahead.

We also have some important upcoming events; next Wednesday October 7th, the Chipotle at the Bluffs Center (1322 Bison Ave) will be holding a fundraiser for DEANS. Chipotle will be donating 33% of all purchases between 4pm and 8pm that evening to Andersen DEANS. Please follow the instructions HERE with code 4ED8NPC for online orders, or mention DEANS to help support Andersen.

Finally, DEANS will be holding its first annual Pickle Ball Classic tournament on Saturday November 14th 1pm to 5pm at the Tennis Club at Newport Beach. Get your pickle ball game tuned up and join us for an afternoon of run and friendly competition aimed at raising money for our beloved school. All skill levels will be welcome! Details on the event and registration will be coming soon.

Sincerely,
Ryan Hart
DEANS President
